Continuity editing exercise

What scenario were you asked to work to?

The scenario i was asked to work with was called "The Encounter" this was when a character opens a door and then goes to sit down where he/she trades dialogue with another character.

What were the key media language skills you were tying to demonstrate?

The key media language skills I was trying to demonstrate were how to shot a match and action, 180 degree rule and rule of thirds with the camera as these allow the shots to flow and does not make the shots look like they jump.

Who did you work with to plan your film?

To plan my film i worked with Rachel McHugh and Aarun Nagra. We started as a pair and then Aarun joined our group afterwards.

How successful was this grouping?

This grouping was successful as we all worked well together and we listened to each others ideas. Another reason we were successful was because when it came to filming we knew what we wanted, even if we couldn't achieve it in the end.

How did you use your creativity to develop the scenario?

I used my creativity to develop the scenario by making the scenario more interesting than just two people sitting down by having them standing around and then another character interrupting them during their 'date'.

How useful was your storyboard? What did you change and what did you stick to?

My storyboard was quite useful as it helped us to know which angles and movements to use on the certain shots it also helped as it showed use what the shots should look like. There were no major changes just certain parts of the dialogue and one or two of the shot types as it looked better as a different shot but other than those changes we stuck to the storyboard.
