Getting the most out of your camera

Task 1: Exposure

Exposure is when there is a lot of light collected by the camera during a single picture for example in my first photo there is quite a bit of exposure so the image looks faded. In my second photo the image is dark due to it having less exposure than the first one. However my last photo has just the right amount of exposure so it is neither too dark or too bright.

Task 2: Flash

This function is used to make artificial light. I have used this in my images, the first photo was taken with the flash on and it reflects the light ruining the picture, however in the second photo I had the flash turned off but due to the light in the room the glass still reflected. For my third photo I had also used flash but it only made the photo look brighter instead of the eye being red, however it looks similar to my last photo which had no flash.

Task 3: White Balance

White balance is used when you want to remove unrealistic colours from your photo to make the photo look like they do in person. As you can see in the first photo I did not use white balance as the photo is blue all over the image. In my last two photos the white balance has been used and the images look as they did in person.

Task 4: ISO (Sensitivity)

This function is how much light the camera needs to take a good photo. In my first photo I have used a high ISO of 1600 which made the photo look slightly fuzzy but in my second photo of the same shot i used a low ISO of 80 which made the photo look slightly dark but better than the first. My third shot was of a high ISO and made the image look brighter than it was and you could see it clearly. However in my last shot I used a low ISO and you cannot see what is in the photo.

Task 5: AF Mode

AF mode means Auto Focus this is when you focus on a certain object in the shot. I have used this in my shots as i have focused on the sharpener but when using the AF Mode the shots get more blurred. The first shot is only slightly blurry so it does not damage my shot, my second one it slightly clearer, however my lost shot is the blurriest of the three and it makes it look unfocused.

Task 6: Burst

Burst mode is used when you want to take multiple photos quickly by holding down the shutter button. I have used this in my images of Ted doing the star jumps and I have captured all the movements you would not normally see if you just took one photo.
