Edit Workshop Evaluation

How did you use 180 degree rule, rule of thirds & match on action?
During our production we used the 180 degree rule, we used this rule as it would confuse the audience on where the person in the film was standing and so they would not look like they are jumping from left to right on the screen. We also used the rule of thirds as it meant that everyone eyes were roundabout the same level to keep it consistent and the conversation flow better. Another rule we used was match on action this was used as it allowed the previous shot to follow through into the next shot.

Match on action

What challenges did you face during production? What would you change if you were to film again?
The challenges I faced during production was that it was hard to find someone who was willing to be a part of the film and when i did find someone they were not always productive and it meant that filming certain shots took longer than they should have. If I were to film again I would make sure that the group stayed focused and I would find better people to act in the film.

What challenges did you face during post-production? What would you change if you were to edit again?
The challenges I faced during post-production was learning how to use the software as it was my first time another challenge would be that I found it hard to make sure all my shots flowed and that they didn't look like they jumped from one shot to the next. If i could edit again I would spend a lot more time trying to figure the software and making my film look better.

What are the overall strengths of your work? Why? - creativity, planning and research, digital technology and post production
The overall strengths of my work would be that the storyboard was clear enough for us to read and know exactly what the shots were supposed to be and the images also made it clear what  are shot was supposed to look like, another strength would be the use of the camera and Mac as i had previously used a camera and mac i knew the basics so that helped when filming and the editing process . A strength of my editing would be that i knew how to use some of the tools on the software.

What are the overall weaknesses of your work? Why? -creativity, planning and research, digital technology and post production
The overall weakness of my work would be that the idea for our film could have been better than   a date go wrong as it was not very creative and there was not much to the story line so we could have made it slightly longer and more interesting another weakness would be that the actors and locations could have been better than using using the corridor and actors who would not act properly and kept messing about. A weakness of my editing would be that i did not know how to use the software and it took time for me to know what certain buttons did and how to use the software properly.

What overall improvements would you make to your work? Why?
The improvements I would make would be that I would find better people to act in my film, who will act accordingly to the scene needs to be and will not constantly laugh during the scenes. Another improvement would be to go back and look at the story board and make sure that the images and the description of the shot are correct before i go a shot the film. The last improvement i would make would be to try and think of a more interesting idea to film and make it longer than it is.
